*How Salt is prepared.*
Salt is processed from salt mines, and by the evaporation of seawater (sea salt) and mineral-rich spring water in shallow pools.
Process of Evaporation: Seawater is trapped in large, shallow pools and allowed to stand there. The sun’s heat evaporates the water slowly and common salt is left behind. This salt is further collected, purified and packed for domestic use.
Salt is normally found as the mineral halite, commonly called rock salt. Not surprisingly, the word halite is derived from the Greek word halos meaning “salt.” Halite is usually found in and around salt springs, salt lakes, and in the ocean.
