Guidelines of Summer Projects for students of classes V to XII
Sir/Madam,
SED (School Education Department) is committed to the holistic development of School students. For this purpose, it has been decided to initiate a programme of Summer Projects for students of classes V to XII with the following objectives:
- Students are encouraged to step out into the world outside school to gain more confidence, and employ ability skills
- Students acquire 4 Cs for 21st century education: Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication
- Collaboration between Government and Non-Government stakeholders to create opportunities for these projects
In this regard, enclosed please find the guidelines, you are requested to take necessary steps on this issue for the successful implementation of this initiative for above mentioned subject.

With reference to the subject cited above this is to inform him/her that SED (School Education Department) is going to implement a programme of Summer Projects for students of classes V to XII in all schools. In this regard, he/she is requested to follow the guideline of Summer Project for students of classes V to XII and set up a block level committee (Rural areas) as per guideline ans also instruction may be issued to the all schools under her/his jurisdiction to act accordingly as per guideline. An orientation cum sharing workshop to be held shortly to discuss various aspects of the said project.

Sir,
Due to heat wave and prevailing situation, it is advised to declare Summer Vacation in the schools under your administrative control with effect from 2nd May 2023 until further instructions except for the schools in hill areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, where in existing academic schedule will continue until further order. The teaching and non-teaching staff will also remain on leave as a special case during the period or till the schools reopen. However, the teaching / Non-teaching staff of schools shall make suitable arrangements for conducting extra classes after re-opening of the schools to makeup the loss due to early closure of schools as stated above, in the interest of the students.
You are therefore, requested to take necessary action accordingly.
This is issued with the approval of competent authority.

Considering the prevailing heat wave situation, the competent authority has decided to close all Autonomous /State/Central Government Aided, Sponsored, Private Schools in the State of West Bengal, with effect from 17th April 2023 for one week or until further order which ever is earlier, except for the schools in hill areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, where in existing academic schedule will continue.
The teaching and Non-teaching staff will also remain on leave as a special case during the period or till the schools reopen.
