A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is an undergraduate professional degree which prepares students for work as a teacher in schools. This is mandatory for teaching at the secondary and higher secondary level.

·         Admission in Teachers Training Programmes, 2023-2025

State Government in the Higher Education Department has advised to start the procedure for admission in Teachers’ training programmes for the academic session 2023-2025 wef 01.09.2023.

·         Admission in Teachers Training Programmes, 2022-2024

Procedure for admission in Teachers’ training programmes for the academic session 2022-2024 with effect from 1st September 2022,

·         Admission in Teachers Training Programmes, 2021-2023

Guidelines for the Universities and Colleges offering admission in Teachers’ training programmes (B. Ed./ M. Ed./ B. P. Ed./ M.P. Ed. Degree) for the academic session 2021-2023.

·         B.Ed. for Contractual Teachers (H.S.) through ODL or Online

School Education Department has taken a policy decision to allow H.S. contractual teachers (part-time teachers for the Higher Secondary Section of Higher Secondary Schools) to undertake B. Ed./ Equivalent Training in ODL mode or as on-line course.

·         Guidelines for Admission to B.Ed Course, 2018

Admission to self-financed B. Ed./ M. Ed./ B. P. Ed./ M.P. Ed. colleges will be done centrally by the affiliating University through on-line mode only.

Governor is pleased to replace the system of Government Nominee in B. Ed. Colleges by introduction of a Monitoring Committee to provide quality education.

·         Registration into D.El.Ed of Primary Teachers with B.Ed

Certificate in Professional Development Programme for Elementary Teachers (6 month D El Ed Bridge Course) for Primary School Teachers with B Ed.

·         Allow all Untrained Teachers for B.Ed Course

Allow all untrained teachers of class V to XII of the Junior High/High/Higher Secondary Schools having requisite qualification for admission in B. Ed. course on deputation.

·         Guidelines for Admission to B.Ed Course, 2016

Government and Government-aided Colleges and State-aided Universities offering B.Ed. /M.Ed. /B.P.Ed. /M.P.Ed. courses will conduct on-line admission process on standalone basis.

·         Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) under the affiliation of WBUTTE

  1. Ed shall be deemed to have come under the affiliation of the West Bengal University of Teachers’ Training, Education Planning and Administration w.e.f. 12.02.2016.

·         Delayed Admission in B. Ed. Course in Self Financing TTIs

Take immediate action to fill up the vacant B. Ed. seats in the colleges affiliated to your University and to start classes for the current academic session without further delay.

·         NOC of the University for Establishment of TTIs

List of proposed B. Ed./ M. Ed./ B. P. Ed./ M. P. Ed. Colleges, for which there may be no objection to issue NOC in favour of the colleges subject to their papers/ applications being in order.

Curriculum Structure for Two-Year Teacher Education Programmes (B.Ed & M.Ed) in West Bengal following NCTE Regulations, 2014. Prepared by the Curriculum Committee Constituted by the Higher Education Department.

·         Two Years Deputation Period for Teachers to B.Ed Course

The approved working untrained Assistant Teachers of the recognized Non-Government Aided Secondary Schools must have to undergo B.Ed. training course for TWO years as per NCTE norms.

·         Bilingual Question Paper for B.Ed/ B.P.Ed/ M.Ed/ M.P.Ed Exam

Question papers for B. Ed./ B. P. Ed./ M. Ed./ M. P. Ed. examinations are henceforth printed bilingually, i.e. in both English and Bengali languages.

50% of the seats in Government/ Government-aided B. Ed. Colleges/ B.Ed. Departments of State-aided Universities are to be reserved for untrained in-service/ deputed teachers of Classes IX-XII.

Counseling for admission to self-financed B.Ed./B.P.Ed./ M.Ed./ M.P.Ed. colleges for 2015-2016 will be done centrally by the affiliating University and may be done through on-line or off-line mode.

·         Registration for 6 months Training of Primary School Teachers

Six Months Special Programme on Elementary Education Training of In-service Primary School Teachers of West Bengal, having B.Ed./ B.Ed. (Special Education/ D.Ed. (Special Education).

·         Guidelines regarding Academic Matters related to B.Ed Course

For smooth functioning of academic matters related to B. Ed. course in the State, the State Government in the Higher Education Department has decided to prescribe the following guidelines:

·         Constitution of Inspection Team for Self-financed B.Ed Colleges

Governor has been pleased to constitute inspection team to examine the feasibility/ deficiency of establishment of self-financed B. Ed. Colleges.

·         Extension of Period of Deputation of B. Ed course

As per provision under NCTE’s latest Regulation duration of B. Ed. programme shall be at least for a term of one academic year or two semesters. In obedience with the aforesaid norm of NCTE it has been decided that B. Ed. classes will start from 1st July every year and continue upto the last day…

·         General Transfer of School Teachers going through B. Ed Course

West Bengal School Service Commission (General Transfer) Rules, 2013 is the latest Rule, shall have the preference over the other related Rules like B.Ed candidates, obligation for serving the institution for a particular time.

·         Release of Inservice Teacher pursuing B.Ed on Deputation

In-service school teachers now undergoing B. Ed. Course on deputation if appointed to another School as Assistant Teacher through SSC shall be released immediately.

·         B. Ed Training of Inservice Assistant Teacher Appointed to Another School through SSC

Instruction for the continuance of B. Ed. Training through ODL Mode of the inservice Assistant Teacher selected for appointment to the post of Assistant Teacher in another school through S.S.C.

·         Fee-Structure for two year B.Ed course through ODL mode

Only Rs. 22000/- was decided as admission fees for each student-teacher taking admission into two year B.Ed course through ODL mode. Violation of the above scheduled fee-structure will be viewed seriously.

·         ON DUTY Leave for Teachers Pursuing B.Ed (ODL)

Governor is pleased to grant “ON DUTY” to the teachers of Schools/ Madrasahs, who are pursuing B. Ed. Course through Open and distance Learning (ODL) mode conducted by Netaji Subash Open University.

·         Online Admission System for B.Ed ODL at NSOU – Last Phase

The online last phase of data capturing and admission process in respect of B.Ed. ODL Programme of Netaji Subhas Open University for training of In Service Upper Primary Teachers in terms of RTE Act will remain open on and from 30th September.

·         List of NSOU Study Centers for B.Ed ODL Programme

List of NSOU Study Centers for B.Ed ODL Programme with Study Center Code, Name, Address, Affiliating University, District, Girls/Boys/Co-Ed etc and respective Seat Capacity.

·         Registration of Un-trained Upper Primary Teachers for B.Ed

Admission in B.Ed Course of all the registered candidates as well as candidates who will be registered during the period 30th August, 2013 to 6th September, 2013 may be done with effect from 4th September, 2013 to 14th September, 2013.

·         Netaji Subhas Open University – Submit Data for B. Ed ODL (2nd Phase)

Online Portal for Updation of Teachers Data for B.Ed. through ODL for training of in-service untrained upper primary school teachers by NSOU. (2nd Phase)

·         Release Date of Deputed Teachers Trainee of B.Ed. Course

Date of release of deputed teacher-trainees will be 30th June of every year instead of 15th May as the course runs from 1st July to 30th June of every year according to NCTE norms.

·         Discrepancies of Names of Untrained Teachers for B.Ed Training

Identify the candidates ineligible as per criteria and note it against the concerned candidate by noting “IE” against the name. In case of new addition, add the names from the last serial of the district’s list in the same format as supplied. The list after necessary corrections may be mailed back along with a certificate…

·         Correction of Name List of Untrained Teachers for B.Ed Training

If any name of teacher is not included in the list under the mentioned category school authority will have to submit details on or before 14.7.13 to this office.

·         B. Ed in ODL for Untrained In-Service Upper Primary Teachers

Online Portal for Updation of Teachers Data for B.Ed. through ODL for training of in-service untrained upper primary school teachers by NSOU.

·         Permission for B.Ed. for School Teachers (Class IX onwards)

During admission in B.Ed courses in the NCTE recognized Institutions, 50 percent seats for Deputed Teachers and 50 percent for the Freshers will be reserved particularly for the teachers teaching for class IX onwards in the coming academic sessions.

·         Conduct of Training – Untrained Upper Primary School Teacher

  1. Ed. Course of untrained Upper Primary School Teachers through ODL Mode will be organised by Netaji Subhas Open University through different NCTE approved B.Ed. colleges of this state.

·         Grant of ‘A’ category Pay Scale to Primary School Teachers

Provided in-service teachers will be allowed ‘A’ category scale of pay from the date of attainment of such qualification of D.El.Ed. However persons already possessing D.El.Ed qualification before their entry as a Pry. School Teacher.

·         Permission for B.Ed Training of Deputed School Teachers

The deputed school teachers may be allowed to take admission in regular B.Ed. course as per existing practice till such time, ODL mode B.Ed. is started.
