*Milad โUl-Nabi* is celebrated on the twelfth day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, which is the third month of the Islamic calendar. This was the day on which the prophet was born. However, the Shia community celebrates the festival on the 17th day. This day is both the day of birth and death of the prophet. It is also the day on which the spiritual reins of the Islamic world was handed over to Hazrat Ali. It is also known as Eid-e-milad.

4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, expansion of rail connectivity in eastern India will boost economy of entire region; PM Modi lays foundation stone and dedicates to nation Railway Projects worth over 660 crore rupees in Jharkhand.
5. Prime Minister Modi also released the first installment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to thousands of beneficiaries. The Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry, BHASKAR initiative, is a platform designed to centralize, streamline, and enhance collaboration among key stakeholders within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

11. Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) announced that metro services will be extended beyond midnight on Tuesday, September 17 in view of the last day of Ganesh immersion. The last trains in all directions will depart at 1 am and are expected to reach their destinations around 2 am.

The death toll in the building collapse in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh has risen to 10. The three-storey building collapsed in the Zakir Colony of Meerut on 14 Sep evening.

Information and Broadcasting Ministry has instituted a new section as part of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024 for young filmmakers called the “Best Debut Indian Film Section 2024.” The 55th IFFI is slated to be held in Goa from November 20th to 28th. 1. The Air Force Association (AFA) celebrated its 44th Annual Day yesterday. *Causes of Ozone Layer Depletion* : The ozone layer depletion is a major concern and is associated with a number of factors.
Chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs are the main cause of ozone layer depletion. These are released by solvents, spray aerosols, refrigerators, air-conditioners, etc.
The molecules of chlorofluorocarbons in the stratosphere are broken down by the ultraviolet radiations and release chlorine atoms. These atoms react with ozone and destroy it.
Unregulated Rocket Launches
Researches say that the unregulated launching of rockets result in much more depletion of ozone layer than the CFCs do. If not controlled, this might result in a huge loss of the ozone layer by the year 2050.
