1. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced a new scheme called NPS Vatsalya under the National Pension Scheme (NPS) for minors. The scheme enables parents and guardians to initiate pension planning for their children by making contributions that accumulate until the child reaches 18 years old.
2. Indiaโs wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation fell to a four-month low of 1.31% in August, down from 2.04% in July. This decline is primarily attributed to reduced prices of manufactured products and food items.
3. The government has scrapped the windfall tax on domestically produced crude oil with effect from 18 September. The windfall tax on domestically produced crude oil will be zero, the government said in a notification.

1. India and the US have committed to deepening their bilateral cooperation across the energy value chain, aiming for a just and orderly energy transition.
