The Government today launched a national campaign, Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat in New Delhi. The primary agenda of the campaign is to make India a child marriage-free nation. Launching the campaign, Women and Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi said, the government has identified 130 districts, where this campaign will be run in a focused manner.
During the event, Women and Child Development Minister Annpurna Devi also unveiled the Child Marriage-Free Bharat portal. The online platform has been developed to support the campaign’s mission of raising awareness, preventing child marriage, and effectively reporting incidents of child marriage.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren will take oath as Chief Minister of Jharkhand tomorrow. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will administer oath of office and secrecy to Mr Soren at a function organised at Morhabadi Maidan in Ranchi. Talking to reporters in Ranchi Hemant Soren said he has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah along with leaders of the India bloc for the ceremony.
In the 81-member assembly, the I.N.D.I.A. bloc secured 56 seats.

In Maharashtra, hectic parleys are on for Government formation. Caretaker Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde today said that his party will support the BJP central leadership’s decision on the next chief minister of the state. Speaking to media persons in Thane, Eknath Shinde said that the decision on the Chief Minister’s face will be made after meeting with Union Minister Amit Shah.
Nationalist Congress Party Chief Ajit Pawar said that he, along with Eknath Shinde and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, will be in Delhi tomorrow where the final discussions regarding government formations will take place.

The BJP today criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his yesterday’s remark on EVM’s. Addressing media in New Delhi today, Party Spokesperson Sambit Patra said, the congress raises questions on EVMs, only when it loses the election. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged youngsters to take part in the quiz, which can ensure them to be a part of the historic Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue. The Viksit Bharat Challenge is a four-stage competition, which invites young people to participate and contribute ideas. Gujarat, has unveiled a new cottage and rural industries policy aiming to create 12 lakh more direct and indirect employment opportunities in the sector in the coming five years. In Uttar Pradesh, five doctors from Saifai medical College Etawah were killed in a road accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Kannauj during the early hours today. The incident occurred when their vehicle collided with a truck on the expressway. The doctors were returning after attending a colleague’s wedding celebration in Lucknow. The India Meteorological Department today said a deep depression is centered over the Southwest Bay of Bengal near the north Sri Lanka coast. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh till Saturday. Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, Director General of IMD, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said the depression is moving towards the north-northwest and is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm by tonight. The cyclonic storm is anticipated to reach near the north Tamil Nadu coast around Saturday morning.
“With the deep depression yet to turn into a cyclone the Met department has predicted more than 20 cms rainfall in Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai districts. Heavy rain with strong winds are to prevail in some coastal areas. A maximum of 19 cm rainfall has been recorded in Nagapattinam till afternoon today. Other areas have received more than 10 cms of rainfall. The sea is turbulent as high waves are hitting the shores . People have been cordoned off near the beaches even as port signal no 3 has been hoisted at nine ports including Chennai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Ennore and Kattupalli ports. The adverse weather has thrown life out of gear in Sri Lanka as the deep depression in the south western Bay of Bengal intensifies further.

In Bangladesh, the High Court today asked the government to inform the court about its stance regarding Hindu religious organisation ISKCON, its activities, and what steps it has taken about it. The High Court passed the order after hearing a writ petition seeking a ban on ISKCON and issuance of section 144 in Chattogram and Rangpur to ward off any unwanted incident.
